VLY GRL Zine: Issue Three
$15.00
I started VLY GRL in 2016 to make cool shit and smash stereotypes. This zine invites you to do the same. Together, we are reconceptualizing the term “Valley Girl’’ by merely being our unique selves and sharing that light with the world. Because we define ourselves.
Belonging seemed like an appropriate theme for this issue, since many of us have been self-reflecting and reevaluating our place in this world, in our circles, and even in our own bodies once the pandemic started. Lockdown shifted our priorities, challenged our work and relationships, and made us realize what and who we truly value. We suffered trauma, loss, and discrimination. But we’re still here, and we are reemerging anew with a stronger sense of belonging in our microcosms and beyond.
The artists featured in this issue portrayed belonging in such beautiful, heartfelt ways. I hope that through their creativity, you feel seen and held. I hope you find kinship and belonging, and are inspired to create your own art. The world needs your light. Shine brightly!
